A page stays waiting
Some saves cannot be read by Lazy Reader's server alone. They wait until something on your side finishes them: the Chrome clipper for paywalled pages, the iPhone app or the clipper for YouTube, or a SociaVault key for Instagram. This page helps when a save keeps waiting.
Symptoms
- An item keeps the label Waiting for full text or Waiting for transcript.
- An Instagram link keeps the label Needs a key.
- The feed shows the link Saves waiting for full text.
- Settings, Capture, Waiting saves says, for example, "3 waiting for Chrome".
Checks
- Open the Waiting page: click Saves waiting for full text on the feed, or open Settings, Capture, Waiting saves. It groups your saves under Needs your key, Waiting for full text, Couldn't open and Members only.
- For Waiting for full text: is the Chrome clipper installed and is Chrome open? If the Waiting page says Install the Lazy Reader Clipper in Chrome, it does not see the clipper in this browser.
- In the clipper's settings, click Sync and check that Finish waiting articles is turned on and Chrome has been given access to the sites you save from.
- For Waiting for transcript: open the Lazy Reader app on your iPhone.
- For Instagram: open Settings, Capture and check that the Instagram row says Saved.
Fixes

| Needs a key on an Instagram link | Add a SociaVault key in Settings, Capture, Instagram. The save is read once the key works. |
TIP
Sign in to the paywalled site in the same Chrome first. The clipper reads the page as you, so it only gets what you can see.
When waiting ends badly
A waiting save can end in one of two states. Both show Try again on the item.
- Members only: your computer could only get the preview too. Lazy Reader does not summarize a preview. Check that your subscription is active and you are signed in, then press Try again.
- Couldn't open: your computer could not open the page at all. Press Try again, or Open link to check the page yourself. The Waiting page has Try again all for this group.
