Lazy Reader is not in the share sheet
On an iPhone, you save links by tapping Share and then Lazy Reader. That button comes from the Lazy Reader iPhone app. If you cannot find it, or it does not save, work through this page.
Symptoms
- You tap Share in Safari or another app and Lazy Reader is not in the row of apps.
- In Settings, the Share to Lazy Reader row still says Not tested.
- The share sheet opens but says "Paste your Lazy Reader token, from Settings".
- The share sheet says "No link found in what you shared."
Checks
- Look for the Lazy Reader app on your home screen. The share button only exists when the app is installed. The iPhone app is available through TestFlight, Apple's app for test versions.
- Open the Lazy Reader app and check that you are signed in. The app gives the share sheet what it needs to save to your account when you sign in.
- Tap Share on any web page, swipe the row of apps to the end and tap More. Check that Lazy Reader is turned on.
- Check what you are sharing. The share sheet needs a web page, a link, or text with a link in it.
Fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| The app is not installed | Follow Install the iPhone app. |
| Lazy Reader is not in the row | Tap Share, swipe to the end of the app row, tap More and turn on Lazy Reader. Next time it is in the row. |
| "Paste your Lazy Reader token, from Settings" | Open the Lazy Reader app and sign in, then share again. You can also paste your capture token from Settings, Capture in the box and tap Save and send. |
| "Token rejected. Paste it again from Settings." | The token changed, for example after Regenerate token. In the Lazy Reader app, open Settings, Account, tap Sign out and sign in again. Then share again. You can also paste the new token in the box. |
| "No link found in what you shared." | Share the page itself, or a link, not a photo or a file. |
| "No connection. Try again." | Check your internet connection and share again. |
| The row says Not tested | Share any link to Lazy Reader, then come back to Settings and press Check again. The row turns Working once a saved link has arrived. |
INFO
The share sheet does not need your capture token when you are signed in to the app. The token in Settings is for the Chrome clipper and scripts.
When a share works, the sheet says "Saving to Lazy Reader..." and then "Saved", and closes by itself. The link shows up at the top of your feed.
Books
To add a book from your iPhone, share the EPUB or PDF file from Files, Books or Mail and pick Lazy Reader. It opens the add-a-book screen in the app. See Add a book.
