The clipper does not save
The Chrome clipper saves to your library with your capture token. It gets that token when you press Connect this browser on lazyreader.app. Most problems come from a missing or old token, or an old clipper.
Symptoms
- The clipper says "Not connected to Lazy Reader." when you press Save to Lazy Reader, with a Sign in with Lazy Reader button.
- The bottom of the clipper says Not connected.
- The clipper says "Save failed" with a reason in brackets, and a Try again button.
- On lazyreader.app, the connect page says "The clipper is not in this browser" or "Update the clipper".
- The connect page says "The clipper did not answer." or "Could not connect."
Checks
- Open
chrome://extensionsand check that Lazy Reader Clipper is there and turned on. - Open the clipper's settings and click About. It shows the version, for example "Lazy Reader Clipper, version 1.12.0."
- In the clipper's settings, click Connection. It says Connected to Lazy Reader or Not connected.
- Think back: did you press Regenerate token in Settings, Capture since you connected? That cuts off every clipper.
- Check that you are signed in to lazyreader.app in the same Chrome.
Fixes
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| Not connected | In the clipper's Connection settings, click Sign in with Lazy Reader. A lazyreader.app tab opens. Click Connect this browser. The page says "Connected. You can close this tab." |
| "Not connected to Lazy Reader." after a save | The token was refused, most often after Regenerate token. Click Sign in with Lazy Reader in the clipper and connect again. Then save the page again. |
| "The clipper is not in this browser" | The clipper is not installed in this Chrome, or it is turned off. Follow Install the Chrome clipper, then open the connect page again. |
| "Update the clipper" | Your clipper is too old to connect from the page. Install the newer build you were given. |
| "The clipper did not answer." or "Could not connect." | Reload the connect page and click Connect this browser again. |
| "No capture token on your account yet." | Open Settings, Capture in Lazy Reader and press Regenerate token, then connect again. |
| "Save failed" with a reason | Read the reason in brackets, then click Try again under it. If it keeps failing, check your internet connection. |
TIP
If connecting from the page does not work, you can paste the token by hand. In Lazy Reader, open Settings, Capture, and copy the Capture token. In the clipper's Connection settings, open Advanced: server address and token and paste it into Token.
INFO
The clipper is not in the Chrome Web Store yet. You install it from a build file you were given. When a newer build comes out, install it the same way.
On lazyreader.app, Settings, Capture shows a Connect Chrome clipper button when it sees the clipper in this browser. That button opens the same connect page.
